Villas with heated pools to escape the cold (Oct–Apr)
Six villas from Marrakech to the Algarve where the pool stays warm when Europe gets gray.
A pool you can actually use in March is a wildly underrated luxury. We collected six villas — across the Mediterranean and North Africa — that keep their water above 28 °C all winter, with windbreaks, indoor living and concierge support built in.
What "heated" actually means (and what to ask)
A truly winter-ready pool is gas- or geothermal-heated, holds 28-30 °C, and is sheltered from prevailing winds. Solar-only heated pools work in summer but collapse in winter. When you book, ask explicitly whether the heating runs by default or costs extra per day — that gap can be €80-€150 nightly.
Where it works best
Morocco, Andalusia and the Algarve enjoy 8+ hours of winter sun, which lowers the heating burden. A heated pool in Saint-Tropez in February is technically possible but burns gas. We weight our list toward villas where the geography does most of the work.
The shoulder-season price trick
Winter weekly rates on these villas are typically 40-55% lower than peak summer, with identical inventory. Combine that with cheaper flights and you have the same villa for half the cost — provided you can take the leap to Marrakech in January.
